| CONVOCATORIA PARA LASA 2010 DOS PREMIOS DE LA SECCION COLOMBIA PARA SER OTORGADOS EN EL CONGRESO DE LASA “Crisis, Respuesta, y Recuperación” Octubre 6-9, 2010, Toronto, Canada La sección Colombia de LASA tiene el gusto de anunciar su tercera convocatoria para los siguientes premios: 1. PREMIO MONTSERRAT ORDÓÑEZ Montserrat Ordoñez , fallecida en Bogotá en el año 2001, dedicó su vida a la difusión y estudio de la literatura femenina latinoamericana y a la búsqueda de un nuevo lenguaje de expresión. El premio se dará en su homenaje a un libro sobresaliente que continúe ese proyecto. Los géneros que pueden ser enviados incluyen narrativas, etnografías, biografías, recuentos históricos, memorias, y ensayos. Se dará un premio de US $500.00, en reconocimiento a un trabajo reciente que abra nuevos caminos, y fortalezca una visión innovativa de las humanidades colombianas, de manera fresca y creativa. 2. PREMIO MICHAEL JIMÉNEZ. Este premio es ofrecido en reconocimiento a la obra de Michael Jiménez , fallecido en el año 2001, por su contribución a las interpretaciones de la historia colombiana de los Siglos XIX y XX. Se otorgará un premio honorario para estimular trabajos que sobresalgan en el uso de teorías, metodologías y perspectivas que se enmarquen en el análisis de temas sociales relevantes para el entendimiento de la realidad colombiana, publicados en los últimos tres años. Siguiendo esta línea los concursantes deberán enviar libros resultantes de investigaciones en el área de antropología, historia, sociología, ciencia política y áreas afines que demuestren excelencia en términos conceptuales, en su impacto, creatividad, y posible repercusión en el país. QUIENES PUEDEN PARTICIPAR: Libros con fecha de publicación entre el 2007 y 2009. DOCUMENTOS QUE DEBEN SER ENVIADOS: • Carta de presentación donde se muestre por qué el trabajo es relevante para estos premios. • Resumen biográfico del autor; máximo una página (250 palabras). • Un resumen del libro, (250 palabras). • El libro en su totalidad en version PDF. CALL FOR BOOK PRIZE ENTRIES FOR LASA 2010 TWO BOOK AWARDS FOR THE COLOMBIA SECTION TO BE AWARDED AT THE NEXT LASA MEETING “Crisis, Response, and Recovery” October 6-9, 2010, Toronto, Canada The Colombia Section is happy to announce its third call for entries for the following prizes: 1. MONTSERRAT ORDÓÑEZ PRIZE Montserrat Ordoñez died in Bogota in 2001 and dedicated her life to the diffusion and study of Latin American literature by women and the search for a new language for expression. The prize will be granted in her honor to an outstanding book that continues this line of research and creativity. The entries can include narratives, ethnographies, biographies, historical tracts, memoir, and essays. A US $500.00 award will be granted in recognition of a recent, path-breaking work that strengthens an innovative vision with respect to the Colombian humanities in creative and refreshing ways. 2. MICHAEL JIMÉNEZ PRIZE. This prize is offered in recognition of the work by Michael Jiménez , died in 2001, for his contributions to historical interpretations of Modern Colombian history. An honorary award is intended to stimulate the production of manuscripts that stand out for their use of theory, methodology, and perspectives that are framed within social themes relevant for the comprehension of the Colombian reality. Entries may include analytical approaches drawing on anthropology, history, sociology, political science, and other relevant disciplines that demonstrate excellence in conceptual approaches, its impact, creativity, and possible repercussions on Colombia. QUALIFIYING ENTRIES: Books published between 2007-2009. DOCUMENTS THAT MUST BE SENT IN: • Brief biographical statement about the author (250 words max). • A letter of introduction describing why the work is relevant and for which prize. • A summary of the book (250 words max) that highlights the relevance of the text for the particular prize. • The book in PDF file. PRIZE ANNOUNCEMENT: The winning entries will be announces at the next LASA meeting during the Colombia Section business meeting that will take place in October 2010 in Toronto, Canada.
