2. CALL FOR FALL 2015 MONOGRAPHIC VOLUME PROPOSALS

Ámbitos Feministas
The editors of Ámbitos Feministas, a multidisciplinary journal of criticism pertinent to current feminist issues in Spanish, Spanish-American, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, Caribbean, U.S. Hispanic and Latino Studies, invite proposals for its Fall 2015 Monographic volume on topic relating to contemporary Hispanic/Luso/Latina women writers and artists (literature, film, art, plastic arts, music, gender studies, History, etc.,)

Proposals should be sent by e-mail to Inma Pertusa (inma.pertusa@wku.edu). They should contain the following information:

• Draft outlining the topic and content of the proposed special issue (up to 200 words);
• Editorial Committee for the monographic volume. Proposed members of the editorial committee must have agreed to serve before the proposal is submitted and must be good standing Feministas Unidas Inc. members. There should be enough reviewers to allow at least two reviews of each paper;
• Name, telephone, and e-mail of the contact person;
• Language: Spanish and/or English

Due date to receive proposals: September 30, 2014

The proposals for the Fall 2015 Monographic volume will be evaluated by the Ámbitos Feministas Editorial Board. A decision will be made by October 15th, 2014. The Fall 2015 Monographic volume final edited materials must be submitted to Ámbitos Feministas by July 1st, 2015. Technical details will be shared with the special editor upon approval of the proposal.
Contributors to the Fall 2015 Monographic volume must be members of Feministas Unidas Inc. The editors of Ámbitos Feministas reserve the right to reject Monographic volume essays, should they be considered inappropriate for publication in the journal.

3. LASA 2015. DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: SEPTEMBER 8, 2014.
We are currently accepting proposals for LASA2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We would love to receive your proposal for consideration before the deadline of September 8th, 2014 (17h00 EDT). Please find the Call for Papers here: http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/files/Call.pdf
Important: All participants need to be LASA 2014 members to be able to submit proposals and be involved in the proposals. You can become a LASA member by joining here: http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/membership/join.asp. Additionally, section panel participants also need to be section members for 2014. The membership deadline is September 8th, 2014 (17h00 EDT).

Notes on participation:
- LASA Participants are limited to one paper per congress, no exceptions. (Co-authorship counts towards the one paper limit).
- Participants can only have 2 active participations per congress (not counting being an Organizer). The participation may take the form of paper presenter, discussant or chair role. A participant is able to be a part of a workshop and a panel. (Section members are allowed a 3rd active participation in a Section panel).
- Participants can only have 2 organizer appearances. Even if a participant wants to organize more than 2 sessions, they can only be recognized in the program book as an organizer for a maximum of 2 sessions.

4. BRIDGES ACROSS CULTURES
Hosted at The International Studies Institute in Florence
Located in the historic Palazzo Rucellai
Florence, Italy 
July 2, 2015 - July 5, 2015
This is the first Bridges Across Culture: An International Conference on Arts and Humanities to be held in Florence. The “Bridges” conference provides an opportunity for academicians and professionals from various arts and humanities-related fields from all over the world to come together and learn from each other. This conference will serve as a place for scholars and experts with cross-disciplinary interests related to arts and humanities to meet and interact with members within and outside of their own particular disciplines. You are cordially invited to submit an abstract for papers in English. All areas of arts and humanities are invited, but of particular interest are papers in the following fields: American Studies, Art History, Ethnic Studies, Film, History, World Literature, Popular Culture, Postcolonial Identities, Religion, Theatre, Visual Arts and Cross-disciplinary areas of arts and humanities.
Please provide the following by email:
• A 200-word abstract
• A cover letter listing name (last, first), academic affiliation, title of the paper, telephone number, address & email

5. JOB at Emerson College
U.S. LATINO/LATIN AMERICANIST

The Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Latin American/U.S. Latino literature. The candidate should be able to draw cultural and theoretical connections among Latin American, Caribbean, U.S. Latino/a, as well as other literatures of the Americas. We will also consider candidates with interests in Transatlantic Studies with a focus on Latin America.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Hispanic Literature or Latino Literature, native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English, experience teaching literature in Spanish at the college level, and evidence of scholarly activity.
The successful candidate will teach literature in translation to undergraduate students, including one senior seminar in Spanish for international and heritage students with a near native Spanish competency. The candidate will also teach a course fulfilling a college-wide literature requirement, which could include a first year seminar. Graduate literature courses for MFA creative writing and MA publishing students will be part of the portfolio. Experience teaching online classes or a willingness to teach in the new online MFA is welcome. In addition to teaching five courses a year, all faculty members advise and mentor students and participate in the college’s system of shared governance.
